Bridekirk Dovenby School is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School which serves the villages within the civil parish. It is situated away from the villages, and thus practically all pupils travel to school by bus or car.

OUTSTANDING!
On 19 and 20 October 2011 our school hosted a visit from the Ofsted Inspectors. The Inspectors visited 8 lessons taught by 4 teachers, scrutinised a variety of pupils' work and held meetings with staff, pupils, parents, carers and members of the Governing Body.
The main findings of the report start "This is an outstanding school. Each child is special and excellent levels of inclusion are in place...."

The National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools Report based on an inspection on November 3rd 2011, was also outstanding.

A big CONGRATULATIONS is due to all the dedicated teachers, support staff and Management Team at our school.

Its excellent reputation leads to its being in demand by families from outside the catchment area.

The School Website will give further information and Ofsted details are available here.

The local secondary school is the very well-regarded Cockermouth School.
