Dovenby WI September 2018

President Nita Eubank welcomed members to the meeting, a celebration evening for the annual Dovenby WI birthday party. Members had obviously been very busy making and baking a fabulous range of puddings. Unfortunately we had to wait!!

Secretary Sheila Martin read the minutes of the previous meeting, this being followed by the correspondence. Members were reminded of the Carol Service at Arthuret Church, Longtown on Saturday 1st December.

The entertainment was 'stand up bingo" organised by Evelyn Varty and Lynda Mumberson. This was great fun and caused much amusement.

The two winners were Pat Harper and Sheila Wilkinson.

The raffle involved lots of winners - too many to list!

The competition - a decorative dish - was won by Evelyn Varty with Nancy Fearon being in second place.

After the fun and games, we were able to sample the mouth-watering puddings, with the beverages including rosť wine, elderflower & raspberry cordial (non-alcoholic) and a nice cup of tea.

We look forward to next month's meeting which will be pie & peas and the AGM.

Meetings are usually held at Bridekirk Dovenby School on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm. More details and a programme are to be found on http://www.bridekirkparish.org.uk/wi
