Dovenby WI September 2017

President Nita Eubank, opened the meeting welcoming members and visitors.

A minute's silence was observed for past member Joyce McDonald. Joyce sadly died at the age of ninety one on the 9th of August.

Secretary Sheila Martin read the minutes of the previous meeting which were approved and signed. Relevant matters from the County News were discussed.

The evening continued with our birthday party - pudding night plus games. Members had obviously been very busy making and baking all day. We were rewarded with a table full of mouth-watering puddings, gateaux, roulades, meringues, vanilla slices and much more, including the cream. WI members are very good at producing food, and better still at eating it. The cup of tea finished it off well.

We finished the evening off with the quiz won by Hilary Halliwell. The raffle was won by Julie Rollison, and the competition, 'A Childhood Game' was won by Anita Birkett, with Pat Harper in second place.

Card Bingo was enjoyed and produced much laughter and a few silly prizes.

Hopefully we can continue our feast next month with 'Pie and Peas' and the AGM.

Meetings are usually held at Bridekirk Dovenby School on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm. More details and a programme are to be found on http://www.bridekirkparish.org.uk/wi
