Dovenby WI September 2012

For the August meeting members and friends enjoyed a trip to Floors Castle. On one of the few sunny days, the journey took us through lovely countryside, arriving at Floors in time for lunch. After a leisurely stroll around the house and gardens, we then made our way home, stopping for a meal at the Graham Arms in Longtown.

The September meeting was to celebrate Dovenby WI's 41st birthday, and was opened by acting president Nita Eubank. Secretary Carol Colquitt began by reading the minutes of the last meeting which were then duly accepted as correct and correspondence was then dealt with.

Names were taken for visits to Uldale, Dean and Lamplugh WI's in October. The evening then continued with members enjoying wine and gateaux followed by a quiz.

The competition - speakers and competitions for the next three months was won by Nita Eubank with Nancy Fearon second.

The quiz and the raffle were won by Pat Saunders.

Dovenby WI is always glad to welcome new members or visitors. Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm at Bridekirk Dovenby School. More details and a programme are to be found on www.bridekirkparish.org.uk.
