Dovenby WI Report May 2010

President Diana Clark opened the May meeting, and after the business of the meeting was concluded, including names being taken for the August trip, Vet Claire Welford was introduced.

Claire gave a talk with slides on "A woman's View as a Vet". After qualifying at Edinburgh College, she began working a a farm vet. She later joined Millcroft Vets at their Brigham practice before going on to their Cockermouth practice, where there are now six vets, recently joined by the John Sedgewick practice.

They treat animals and wildlife from the exotic to everyday animals.

A vote of thanks was given by Nita Eubank for a very interesting talk.

The Competition - homemade shortbread was won by Hazel Graves, with Pat Harper as runner-up.

The Quiz was won by Hazel Graves with Jean Moralee and Pat Saunders second.
