Dovenby WI October 2018

The evening commenced with a supper of Pie and Peas, fruit salad, trifles and a welcomed cup of tea! This was enjoyed by all before the important function of the AGM.

Secretary Sheila Martin read the previous month's minutes and correspondence.

The AGM commenced with Treasurer Anita Birkett giving the statement for the 2018 financial year. We have a positive balance which is healthy for the year ahead.

Sheila Martin then gave us the Secretary's account, thanking Nita for her superb organisation, and also including our 26 members for their loyal support.

Nita followed with her President's report, this being a happy and successful institute. She went on to include the excellent speakers we have welcomed throughout the year and the outings and Christmas party, and also the members from other WIs at our various events.

The officers are a very successful trio and were re-elected for the next year.

The evening concluded with the presentation of the plate which is given annually for points scored in the competitions. Nita was the worthy winner.

The raffle was won by Kath Palmer.

The competition for suggestions for three speakers for next year had Evelyn Varty in first place with Nancy Fearon in second place.

Meetings are usually held at Bridekirk Dovenby School on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm. More details and a programme are to be found on http://www.bridekirkparish.org.uk/wi
