Dovenby WI October 2013

Sixteen members attended the meeting, which began with a pie & pea supper, followed by fresh fruit salad.

President Geraldine Baldwin then opened the AGM and gave out voting papers for members to decide on whether to keep or sell WI House in Carlisle.

Secretary Carole Colquitt went through the correspondence before reading the September minutes, which were duly accepted. She then gave her report for the year, highlighting some of the interesting evenings. Treasurer Anita Birkett then gave her annual report, which showed that although showing a small deficit over the year, left us with a healthy balance. The financial statement was adopted by Sheila Wilkinson and seconded by Joyce Thompson. The president then gave her annual report, thanking secretary Carole Colquitt and treasurer Anita Birkett as well as the committee for all their help.

The president and treasurer have agreed to carry on after being proposed by Mary Foster and seconded by Sheila Wilkinson. However secretary Carole Colquitt has decided to stand down. Sheila Martin was proposed by Julie Rollison and seconded by Mary Foster, and has accepted the position of secretary.

The Annual Competition was jointly won by Hazel Graves and Sheila Wilkinson.

The competition - speaker and competition for three months was won by Julie Rollison.
