Dovenby WI November 2015

President Nita Eubank opened the meeting with a minute's silence in memory of Geraldine Baldwin, who passed away recently. Gen was a lovely caring person, and her happy, smiling face will be missed by all who knew her.

Secretary Sheila Martin read the minutes of the last meeting, followed by correspondence.

Our guest speaker for the evening was Christine Kendall, who specialises in the construction and decorating of egg caskets. Think of Carl Fabergé and Christine's work springs to mind.

These unique eggs are created mainly from goose eggs coming from her own gaggle of geese.

A specialist in her field, the eggs are blown, cut and painted with up to twenty coats of paint. They are then decorated to produce a beautiful and unique gift for various events.

This lovely evening was then followed by a buffet supper.

Nita gave Christine a vote of thanks for an egg-cellent talk, a marvellous display of her work.

The egg cup competition was won by Nita Eubank, with Ann Lister in second place.

The raffle was won by Mary Foster, and the quiz was won by Ann Lister.

Meetings are usually held at Bridekirk Dovenby School on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm. More details and a programme are to be found on http://www.bridekirkparish.org.uk/wi
