President Geraldine Baldwin opened the November meeting, followed by former secretary Carole Colquitt reading the minutes of the October meeting, which were duly accepted.
Newly elected secretary Sheila Martin then continued with the business of the evening. Names and menus were then confirmed for the Christmas lunch on December 5th.
On completion of the business, guest speaker Phil Bradley was then introduced, and gave a talk on willow weaving illustrated by slides.
Having his own willow beds, he processes the willow from planting in March to harvesting on January 1st.
Once harvested, the reeds have to be dried out, sorted into different grades and lengths, before making into the final products as baskets.
Phil does animal sculptures and also river bank protection work as well as teaching.
A vote of thanks for a very enjoyable and enlightening evening was then given by the president.
The competition - a small basket, was won by Pat Harper, with Alison Bradshaw in second place.
The Quiz - was won by Geraldine Baldwin, with Jean Moralee second, and Carole Colquitt in third place.
