Dovenby WI November 2010

The November meeting was opened by President Geraldine Baldwin who welcomed guests from Crosby and Embleton WIs.

Acting Secretary Julie Rollison read the minutes of the October meeting, and these were duly accepted as correct.

Members from Dovenby have been invited to Embleton in February 2011.

After a short business meeting, guest speaker Mrs Mary Watson was introduced, and gave demonstrations of flower arranging. Mrs Watson is president of the Carlisle and District Floral Club, and has entered, and received several medals at the Chelsea Flower Show. She brought Christmas decorations she had already made, and demonstrated five different Christmas flower arrangements, which she then very kindly donated for the raffle.

The evening ended with guests and members enjoying a buffet provided by Dovenby WI.

A vote of thanks was given by Geraldine Baldwin for a very enjoyable evening.

The Competition - A small vase of flowers, was won by Mary Foster, with Geraldine Baldwin in second place.

The Raffle - There were nine prizes for the raffle. Six went to Dovenby members, two to Embleton, and one to Crosby.

Dovenby WI is always happy to see new faces. Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month at Bridekirk Dovenby School commencing at 7:30pm.

The next meeting will be the January meeting.
