Dovenby WI November 2007 After a short business meeting, Diana Clark introduced guest speaker Brian Fulton, a jewellery manufacturer for the retail trade. His jewellery was hand-crafted, making it very labour intensive, and thus business was being lost to the Far East where labour is cheap. Over the last twelve months his business has been computerised, making his designing much quicker, but still giving his goods their excellent quality and individuality. Mr Fulton gave a demonstration of how rings can be virtually made on the computer. He also brought a selection of beautiful and individually designed rings and necklaces which he had made. A vote of thanks was given by Joyce Thompson. The competition - a brooch, was won by Sarah Hird with Kath Palmer being runner up. The Raffle was won by Enid Creerie. The quiz was won by Sheila Wilkinson. |
