Dovenby WI May 2007

Members' night meeting was opened by Acting President Nita Eubank and Acting Secretary Susan Allison and after reading the April Minutes and the County Newsletter, Nita Eubank started Members' Night by reading a poem about the WI. This was followed by Diana Clark showing earrings and bracelets and other pieces she had worked in silver. Pat Saunders then demonstrated her patchwork, beginning with scraps of material and gradually building it up to the finished article, a patchwork quilt. A very interesting talk was then given by Enid Crerie on the village of Tallentire. She had maps showing field patterns going back to the 12th Century, and photographs of different cottages through the centuries. Jean Moralee then showed pictures worked in cross-stich and beads.

The Competition - A decorative spoon was won by Nancy Fearon with second place Joyce MacDonald.

Members chose which piece of pottery (made at the previous meeting) they thought the best, and this was won by Enid Crerie with second place Pat Harper and Anita Birkett.

The quiz was won by Faye Waterhouse, with second place Nita Eubank, and third Susan Allison.

A vote of thanks was given by Joyce MacDonald.
