On completion of the business of the evening, President Diana Clark introduced guest speakers Roger and Ann Hiley who gave a talk with slides on their three week trip to the Kimberley region of North West Australia, which took place in August 2008.
They flew from the UK to Darwin in the Australian Outback. They then transferred to a smaller plane to travel to the town of Kununurra, before on to the Mornington Wildlife Camp, which is also a research station and tourist area.
From there they flew to Broome, which until World War 2 was a pearl town, with many of the pearl divers coming from Japan.
They then continued their journey by taking a six-day boat trip, visiting many places which can only be reached by this means.
They then reached Derby, calling at the Kimberley Coastal Camp, and seeing a lot of Aboriginal art, before ending their journey back in Darwin before travelling home.
