Minutes of the meeting of Bridekirk Parish Council held on Thursday 13th February 2020

Present: Mr S Dumbill (Chair); Mr R Stenson; Mr D Hodgson; Mr M Rollison; Mr M Buckley; Mr F Armstrong; Mr R Coy: Cllr N Cockburn; Cllr J Farebrother; Ms D Cosgrove (Clerk)

1.2.20 Apologies for absence received from,; Mr W Nixon & Cllr J Farebrother

2.2.20 The minutes of the meetings held on Thursday 19th January 2020 were signed as a true record.

3.2.20 There were no declarations of interest in matters on the agenda.

4.2.20 There were no members of the public present at the meeting.

5.2. 20 Accounts approved for payment

  • Parish Magazine 25.00

6.2.20 Reports from outside bodies

  • Nobody present from CCC
  • Cumbria Constabulary - nobody present
  • Allerdale BC - for ease of reference it was resolved to note reports under the relevant agenda items as appropriate.

7.2.20 Planning Applications -

  • Burton House Tallentire email sent to local residents 21.2.20. nothing shown on the Planning Portal (update check on 8.3.200 shows nothing new)

  • Items reported under appropriate minute for easy access where appropriate

9.2.20 Flooding updates

Tallentire - the work has turned out to be much more than initially expected, however it is underway and hoped to be finished within the month. It is anticipated that it will help considerably with the flooding issues in that area.

There was discussion around the leaky dams in Dovenby and the effectiveness of how they are working.

10.2.20 - Parish Maintenance -

  • Potholes -a reminder was given that anyone can report potholes to Cumbria Highways, and the more reports, the quicker they will get dealt with.
  • It was agreed that Mr Buckely can claim back for Hammerite to be purchased for Parish Maintenance in Dovenby.
  • Grass Cutting Contract - speak to contractor to ensure that he includes the area at the side of Rook Farm Close in the work that is completed.
  • Coach Road - cones on the roadside, look unsightly and potentially dangerous. Mr Dumbill will speak to Mr Sharp at Allerdale Planning Department about them.

11.2.20 M Sport

  • It was noted that the Parish Council as a whole were disappointed to see that there were representatives from Northern Developments at the meeting to discuss the noise issues. It was felt that this was symptomatic of the behaviours that have led to mistrust between the public and the developers of the site.

12.2.20 Proposed Defibrillator for Dovenby

  • No progress to report on

13.2.20 Cumbria Community Foundation

  • Discussion around the voting in the meetings by two of the officers of CCF, which is against the agreement that is in place.
  • Next meeting to be held on 11th March 2020 Mr Stenson will circulate any applications for comments prior to the meeting.

14.2.20 Joint Parish Meetings

  • No update

15.2.20 Noted date and time of next meeting : Thursday 12th March 2020 7.30pm Bridekirk Dovenby School. It was noted also that there will be no meeting in April due to Easter Holidays.
