Minutes of the meeting of Bridekirk Parish Council held on Thursday 12th April 2018

Present: Simon Dumbill (Chair); Rev M Jackson; Mr W Nixon; Cllr H Graham; Ms D Cosgrove (Clerk)

1.3.18 Apologies for absence received from Mrs C Fossey; Mr M Rollison; Mr R Coy; Mr R Stenson; Mrs J Farebrother; (ABC); Cumbria Constabulary.

2.3.18 The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 8th March 2018 were signed as a true record.

3.3.18 No declarations of interest in items on the agenda

4.3.18 There were no members of the public wishing to present to the PC on this occasion.

5.3.18 Accounts for payment:

  • HMRC - 100
  • Clerk Salary 400 + 63.98 expenses
  • Lazy Lawns 150

Agreed, but only one signatory present.

6.3.18 Reports from outside bodies

  • Allerdale Borough Council - Nobody present
  • Cumbria County Council -A brief discussion took place regarding the various things that Cllr Graham has been involved in over the past month to include:
  • Flexible fund of which Cllr Graham would like to allocate 1,000 to be spent in the parish to meet local priorities.
  • Bridekirk roads, some work has now been completed.
  • Looking at passing places on the Bridekirk Road as this is needed.
  • Cumbria Constabulary - Nobody present.

7.3.18 Planning applications - none in this period

8.3.18 Clerks report: Letter received from Rev Michael Jackson tendering his resignation and thanking the Parish Council for the enjoyable time he has spent working with them. Mr Dumbill thanked him for his time and commitment and wished him well in his new home. He will be missed by the members of the PC and the Clerk.

Other updates covered under other agenda items

9.3.18 Flood work and updates 

Grants have been received into the PC bank account on behalf of the group, it is anticipated that this will be drawn down as work is completed, from next month.

10.3.18 Parish Maintenance

There are plans for a speed limit review for Tallentire, Cllr Graham is going to request that Dovenby be included in this. There is also to be a new car park and lay by to be installed over the summer holidays at the school.

11.3.18 Non Traveller update. A brief update of meetings attended was given.

12.3.18 M Sport - Nothing to report. Cllr Graham will make enquiries to find out why no further information was sent out to PC

13.3.18 CCF Fund - No update 

14.3.18 Noted date and time of next meeting as Thursday 12th April 2018, 7.15pm for the Annual Parish Meeting to be followed by the PC Meeting at Bridekirk Dovenby School.
