Minutes of Bridekirk Parish Meeting held in

Before the meeting formally  commenced, one minutes silence was held in remembrance of  Mrs Hazel Graves who sadly passed away.

Suspension of the meeting for members of the public to speak Mr G Scott, Chair of Dearham PC spoke about the issues around the site at Blindfoot and flooding. County Councillor had said it was in Bridekirk Parish area. The land is owned by CCC. Nobody appears to be taking any responsibility. There has been a request submitted to put boulders across the site to stop access to it. Concerns about contamination into the stream to the rear.

Eric Nicholsons yard,  Lot of water,  F Armstrong had checked camera is down. Work done, but not a lot of rain lately. Watching brief,

Clerk to write to CCC; Allerdale BC and to make contact with Env Health to carry our inspection

  • Burglary at Broughton Craggs Hotel over Christmas holidays, the offender was caught.
  • Cllr Cockburn went to local plan consultation, Tallentire/Bridekirk/ Dovenby. She will look and see if there is anything and email information and pictures/
  • Draft recommendation from Boundary Commission, No issues, appears to be a common sense approach.
  • Road accident resulting in fatality, what action
  • Funding for flood resilience Cut off date is 31.3.17 can access 2,000 CCF + 5,000 from ABC

Ask Police for better reports

Write to CCC re lack of presence 2 x in past 2 years

  • Contact acquired to potentially assist with defibrillator installation
  • Some of the reported road issues have been completed, with more in the pipeline.
  • Restoration of milestone opposite Wood Hall, (turning into Bridekirk)  - agreed to commence
  • Ask for further quotes for milestones and finger posts
  • Posters and cards coming for Broadband event for circulation next month






Parish Maintenance

  • Defibrillator contact now got a new contact who may help move this forward.
  • Request to go to Highways re lighting on roundabout which is shining onto drivers due to position of panels.
  • Bridekirk + Annes Hill Report the potholes.
  • Between Cross Roads and Dovenby Craggs, big pothole on left, hard to avoid.



Flood Group-  No report.



M Sport A lot of mud on the road due to lorry wash. Request enforce cleaning on site, not water poured onto road making road and verges more slippery and muddy.

Request for information on what jobs are being created, are there going to be buildings and jobs?



Cumbria Community Foundation   - No report
